New Action Items:

• Oct 11 – Chris Helm – ping Frank Warmerdam and ask about status of GeoTIFF 1.1 and when we can expect an RFC – get rough schedule
• Oct 11– Jingli Yang – ping Elena Pourmalabout HDF4 & HDF5 RFCs and when we can expect those – get rough schedule
• Oct 11 – Helen Conover – get status from Michael Goodman about level 2 precip product science content standard – either new leader for the effort or a schedule of the document
• Oct 11- Glenn Cunningham – ping Robert Wolfe and check on Surface Reflectance product science content Tech Note and when we can expect that
• Oct 11– Yonsook Enloe – contact Denny Grossman about status of Vegetation Classification RFC and what exactly he wants to input in an RFC and when
• Oct 11 – Rich Ullman to work with chairs of Reuse & Infusion to craft an agenda for the joint breakout session at October meeting
• Oct 11 : Volunteers to contact REASON PIs to see if they can present ideas for future potential standards and tech notes at the SPG sessions in Oct.

Notes/Discussion:

• The action items from July telecon were discussed.
• Michael Goodman is thinking about trying to find a new leader for the level 2 precip product science content standard.
• Cheryl Craig has sent Jingli an RFC document for the AURA HDF Guidelines to preview before a formal submission.
• Harlan Onsrud will be a speaker at the ES DSWG meeting, probably on Tuesday at the lunch.
• We will have a joint breakout session with the Reuse and the Infusion group. We had a telecon on Mon Sept 19 to discuss ideas for a joint breakout. Rich will be working with Reuse and Infusion chairs to craft an agenda for the breakout. Some topics to discuss are how standards can influence Reuse and Infusion and also the reverse.
• SPG members volunteered to contact REASON :PIs to see if who can present info about future data systems standards or tech notes at the Oct meeting. The action item list details the volunteers.
• List of REASON PIs planning to present as of 9/21 include Chris Lynnes,k Liping Di, Oscar Casteneda, Ross Swick
• AGU Session update – have more abstracts than we have time for oral presentations. Some will need to be posters.
• Please review the template for talks that Ananth sent out and send comments to him
• ECHO Tech Note is expected to be submitted in late Nov or early Dec.
• Difficult to get response from Frank Warmerdam about the status of the future GeoTIFF RFC.
• Rich is going to attend the FGIT meeting on Oct 6-7. His purpose for going is to improve communication with NSF who is one of the main sponsors for this meeting.
• Rich and Jingli and Ananth and any other “locals” will get ideas for an SPG evening out during the Oct meeting.
• All future SPG ALL telecons will be at a new time slot – 4pm ET instead of 2pm ET.
