  • TWG chartered for evaluation of the DAP 2 spec. Initial members are : Chair-Rich Ullman, Gi-Kong Kim, John Evans, Helen Conover, Jingli Yang, Yonsook Enloe

Notes/Discussion:

  • Ming gave a recap of the ESDWG Planning meeting. The chairs and co-chairs of all 4 working groups meet with Kathy and exchange information once a month, the first Tuesday of each month. * Tech Infusion – they have a concept to create a movie – how tech infusion can benefit stakeholders and ESE community. Hope to see this movie at the Oct face to face meeting. Categorizing technologies needed for 2010.
    • Reuse team – published IGARS paper. Summary of online survey responses are online. Had a face to face team meeting last week.
    • SPG – DAP 2 submitted as a proposed standard and in technical review. How to Submit Guide is complete.
    • Metrics – Looking at combining ESIP Fed metrics and REASON metrics.
    • Overall – Kathy wants to encourage participation in the WG. Kathy wants to identify people who are actively participating and who are not.
  • New SPG member – Michelle Anthony
  • Ananth gave an update of the recent plone/spg website changes. Have a new search button - to search other ESDWG websites. Gateway between the website and the mailing list.
  • Helen gave an update of the recent changes she made to the RFC 003 and the “How to Submit an RFC” guide. These will also need to be updated with the better description of what is needed for “purpose/motivation” and “Implementations” sections. She will also take a look at the RFC 002 (the Process RFC) to see if any changes need to be made. Since RFC 002 is in final form.
  • Jingli is talking to Larry’s scientist to identify potential community and potential leaders to adopt the FGDC Vegetation Index standard.
  • Issue: SPG should adopt or just endorse the FGDC Vegetation Index standard? Is an evaluation needed by the SPG for this standard if FGDC already went through an evaluation? Maybe the RFC for this should just expand on the “Motivation” section?
  • August Federation meeting – who is going? Rich will be giving a talk during the plenary. Helen will probably go. Either Denny Grossman or Larry Sugarbaker from Naturserve will attend. Chris Lenhardt will attend. Yonsook will attend.
