SPG Telecon Notes for Sept 9, 2009 3pm ET telecon

Next SPG Telecons: Wed Sept 23 at 3pm ET.

Next SPG meeting: Oct 20-22 at Wilmington, Delaware

Action Items:

  • Sept 18 – Rich will invite someone from CLARIO and ICESAT decadal survey missions to give a talk about reference architectures at the Oct meeting
  • Sept 11 – yonsook will ask Frank Lindsay for a revised meeting agenda for the Oct meeting

Notes/Discussion:

  • The October ESDSWG meeting will be held on Oct 20-22 in Wilmington, Delaware – at the Doubletree hotel. Please register for the meeting and also make your hotel reservations. There is a group code for the hotel reservations. The overall agenda is posted on the registration site at: http://www.regonline.com/builder/site/Default.aspx?eventid=761267
  • After discussion, agreed on 4 SPG breakout sessions focused on:
    • (1) Current Reference Architecture : Dave Cuddy’s Experiences in Community Building and Dan Marinelli’s ECS architecture talks would go here. Potential talk – Helen’s talk about AMSR-E SIPS distributed processing architecture
    • (2) Reference architectures for the decadal survey missions – Dave Cuddy will give talk about JPL-led decadal survey missions; Rich will invite speakers from the CLARIO and ICESAT missions.
    • (3) Reference architectures and core standards – Rich will give talk about current SPG standards; Emily will give talk about Planetary Data Systems Core standards; Could send email to decadal survey mission teams, asking them what standards they need. Could give a talk about the survey responses.
    • (4) Web services technical workshop; Allan has 3 speakers in mind – Josh Lieberman, Pat Cappelari, and Andrew Turner. He will not formally invite the speakers until after we find out the next revision of the ESDSWG agenda. Yonsook will ask Frank for a revised agenda.
