Action Items:

• May 20 – ALL confirm speakers for July 15 SPG meeting
  • Ed will talk to Ken Casey about who should give what talk – OSTM & GHRSST and will confirm titles, speakers, etc.
  • Daniel will try to confirm Gene for a talk at the July 15 meeting.
  • Daniel will confirm speakers for Oceans session
  • Siri Jodha & Yonsook will put together the GEOSS SIF session
  • May 20 – John Scialdone – ask Lola about the DIF RFC.

Notes/Discussion:

• July 15 SPG meeting “Outreach and Connections”; Venue: University of New Hampshire – Durham NH. Please make your hotel reservations. Many members of the SPG are staying at the Holiday Inn Express (see www.esipfed.org under events)
• Status of RFCs –
  • Backtrack – Ananth – Looking for review comments from ECHO and from NOAA. ECHO going ops at the end of month. ECHO will provide comments in early May. NOAA product distribution team has been asked to give comments.
  • AURA – Helen – Cheryl will try to do revision to document in the next two weeks to fix typos, editorial cleanup.
  • SWEET – Helen – wait till July to discuss when Rob gives his talk at the SPG meeting
  • NetCDF – Daniel – We had telecon with Russ and Ed. There are 4 variants to the NetCDF Classic format. They will document the NetCDF binary. Expecting the RFC in mid to late May.
  • Reflectance terminology – Siri Jodha – we are giving up on Gabriela. This Reflectance Terminology RFC has no viable sponsors.
• Oceans Outreach – Daniel – IOOS DMAC Steering Team is meeting the first week of May. Rich is invited to give a talk on the SPG. Daniel will update the collaboration document.
• New missions outreach –
  • GPM – nothing new to add
  • Aquarius – Ed/Daniel are still trying to reach Gene Feldman. Daniel will try to confirm Gene for a talk at the July 15 meeting.
  • OSTM/OCO – Ed – got surveys back and gave to Jingli. Ken Casey (OSTM) will give a talk in July.
  • OCO (Barry) – will not give a talk
  • Glory & LDCM – nothing new to add
• Ed will talk to Ken Casey about who should give what talk – OSTM & GHRSST and will confirm titles, speakers, etc.
• Tech Infusion will write up Practical Guidelines. Should we cross reference these docs in the SPG? They don’t want to submit as "Best Practice" because they are not sure they are the “best” practice, just a practice. We need to think about how we cross reference these docs on the SPG website
• Siri Jodha noted that WIS (WMO Info Systems) will meet in DC soon. Will discuss standards and interoperability related topics. Source for guidelines for SPG?
• John Scialdone said he will follow up with Lola about the DIF RFC.
• We will have a GEOSS SIF session at the July 15 meeting since Siri Jodha will attend this meeting.
