Action Items:

• March 19 – Siri Jodha, Ed Armstrong, Daniel, Glenn – will talk to different MEASURES PIs to see if any would like to give a talk at the July 15 SPG meeting
• March 19 – Jingli – get schedule for revised AURA RFC from Cheryl
• March 19 – Siri Jodha – ask Gabriela one last time about Surface Reflectance Terminology RFC. If cannot get an answer this time, then drop it with her.
• March 19 – John Scialdone – ask Lola about the DIF RFC.
• March 19 – Daniel – ask about the NetCDF Classic RFC.

Notes/Discussion:

• July 15 SPG meeting “Outreach and Connections”; Venue: University of New Hampshire – Durham NH
  • Siri Jodha, Ed & Daniel will talk to several MEASURES PIs to see they want to give talks at the SPG meeting
  • Daniel is coordinating an oceans session at the meeting
  • Everyone should talk to potential speakers by the March SPG telecon
  • Ananth will give a talk about GOES-R Metadata standards
• Allan discussed the SPG website revision. He’s done a wholesale revision of the website. Please send any comments for website changes to Allan.
• New Missions outreach status –
  • NPP – Rich – NPP will use HDF5. He will talk to Bob Schweiss about data standards and new revision of sample data formats
  • Aquarius – Daniel – they are using legacy standards from ocean color. Also using DIFs. Level 1-3 data will be in HDF5 format.
  • LDCM/USGS – Jingli – will be using HDF5.
  • GLORY – Jingli – no contact yet
  • GPM – Helen – Erich Stocker says it’s still early for standards but watching WGISS for metadata standards. He is planning to use HDF5 for archive. HDF4/NetCDF and binary for distribution formats.
• Status of RFCs
  • Backtrack RFC – Ananth- TWG has not gotten together yet. Will have the first telecon next week.
  • AURA – Jingli – Cheryl is revising the document in response to the review comments. Elena had a big comment about data types. Jingli will get a schedule from Cheryl.
  • Siri Jodha – Surface Reflectance Terminology – no response from emails and phone . Will check for one more month and if no response, then drop it.
  • DIF – John Scialdone – will touch base will Lola.
• Oceans outreach – Daniel – Does anyone have any comments on the collaboration document? Send comments to Daniel. He has sent the collaboration document to the IOOS DMAC. The NetCDF Classic will be the first test case of the collaboration.
• Daniel volunteered to be the editor of the NetCDF Classic RFC.
