The first SEEDS Working Group Meeting was held January 8 in Orlando Florida. The Standards Process Group (SPG) is also called the SEEDS Standards and Interfaces Working Group in the proceedings of the meeting.

The purpose of the meeting was to form the working group from members representing NASA REASoN CAN awardees and other interested ESE activities. The following areas were discussed:

  • Plenary (see "context" ppt)
  • Introduction of participants (all added to SPG mailing list)
  • Introduction to & Overview : ESE Standards Process (see "process" ppt)
  • Goals of SPG (see "RFCs" ppt)
  • Potential areas to standardize (see "areas" ppt)
    • Identify likely standards that have an impact and can likely be quickly approved.
    • Identification of communities who will use the ESE Standards Process to promote their community standards for wider use.
  • Identification of SPG priorities (see "minutes" doc and "report" doc)
    • adopt the first three RFCS
    • Interaction with reuse, technology and metrics w/g
    • other priorities
  • SPG work process
  • Elect Co-chair (Ming Tsou, San Diego State University)
  • Report out from SPG to SEEDS Plenary (see "report" doc)
