Decisions
- SPG will accept RFC errata changes until 90 days after the recommendation letter sent to HQ or when HQ approves the recommendation whichever happens sooner. Don’t disband the TWG until then. Don’t change version ID until after the recommendation is accepted.
- SPG will meet on Wed June 15at the ESIP Federation meeting.
Notes/Discussion:
- Rich did send letter of recommendation to approve RFC-003 to Kathy Fontaine. He will check with her to see if she forwarded the rec on to HQ.
- Allan discussed the new revision of the RFC-004 to correct a small error in the spec. Allan has reviewed the spec change and agrees with the spec author that the revision should be accepted. Allan had posted the revised spec on the SPG website and sent email to the SPG email list. SPG members agreed to accept this revision.
- Errata process discussion – what should SPG do when RFCs are revised before recommendation is approved by HQ? After much discussion, SPG decided that SPG will accept RFC errata changes until 90 days after the recommendation letter sent to HQ or when HQ approves the recommendation whichever happens sooner. Don’t disband the TWG until then. Don’t change the version number to 1.0 until after the rec is accepted. After the acceptance and after the version number is 1.0, we should follow the errata process that is explained in RFC-003, section 6.1.
- ESDSWG update by Ming – Ming gave a brief summary of the previous ESDSWG Planning telecon. There will be no joint meetings with the ESIP Federation in the future. There will be a ESDSWG meeting in Oct/Nov. We should have a confirmed meeting room for the SPG meeting on June 15 in San Diego.
- Madeline Butler from the GSFC CIO office for data systems – would like SPG to submit our standards to the standards.nasa.gov. Will this cause another level of review in addition to HQ review? No. SPG will just send announcements of recommended standards to the standards.nasa.gov, not a request to review the standard. We will announce to this organization after the HQ approval of each SPG standards recommendation.
- The new ESDSWG server machine arrived. All ESDSWG related email lists will be moved to a GSFC list server.
